12 Volt Output Port Is Handy
I had some 40 volt Ryobi batteries on hand, so it seemed logical to add this tool. I installed four 6ah batteries and connected my Bodega 53 quart portable cooler via the 12 volt output and an adapter. The batteries kept the fridge at the 40 degree setting for over 50 hours. So I was pleased. The USB C port fast charged a phone at 18 watts. I wish the unit had an on screen battery gauge. But it does display the voltage and output wattage and which batteries are being used at the moment. So you have a pretty good idea of remaining battery life by the voltage displayed. So far so good. I just wish these folks produced a unit capable of 1000 watts or so. Then a full size fridge or even a furnace could be run. But for small appliances, electronics, or lighting during a power outage this unit seems fine.

Emergency Power Backup That Works – With Some Notable Trade-offs
This power inverter effectively transforms Ryobi 40V batteries into a reliable emergency power source, though the operational noise level requires consideration.
During extended power outages, this inverter demonstrated its value by maintaining essential electronics. In testing, it powered an Xfinity modem and laptop continuously for 12 hours, enabling crucial access to emergency updates and communications. The pure sine wave output provides safe, stable power for sensitive electronics – an important feature for protecting valuable devices.
Key strengths include compatibility with both original and compatible 40V batteries. The four-battery capacity allows for extended runtime when needed. It eliminates the complexity of traditional generators, requiring no fuel management or outdoor operation during adverse weather conditions.
Notable considerations: The cooling system produces significant noise during operation, comparable to a desktop computer under heavy load. The unit requires indoor placement due to its non-weather-resistant design, which may limit some usage scenarios. While functional for home emergency use, the construction quality suggests careful handling is advisable.
Performance testing showed reliable operation with an 80-watt load and sustained performance with a 20-watt load over 8 hours – sufficient for maintaining essential devices during outages.
    Usage Notes:
    – Indoor operation required
    – Cooling fan noise is noticeable
    – Ideal for emergency power backup
    – Functions with single or multiple batteries
    – Not weather-resistant
For those already invested in the Ryobi 40V battery system seeking emergency power backup, this inverter provides reliable performance within its operational constraints. The noise level and indoor-only usage requirements are offset by its effectiveness in maintaining essential electronics during power interruptions.

Works with just one battery and with many different off brand 40v batteries.
Tested on two different 65 inch TVs, a 150 watt personal heater and a 250 watt space heater. Performed well and accepted three different brands of 40v batteries. No oil, gas or propane to worry about. No need to go outside for power. Gives us peace of mind to have this in our stash for prolonged power outages. Gave one to my mom as well.

INVERTER WORKS ONLY WITH RYOBI BATTERIES
This inverter DOES NOT COME WITH A BATTERY. You will need to supply the four 40Volt Ryobi batteries in order to use this inverter. Other brands of batteries, such as Dewalt, will not work with this inverter.
Being only 350 Watts, this inverter is only intended for accommodating small electrical loads, such as a small coffee maker, a small TV, computer, radio, or lamp. This inverter is not for using with items that use an electrical load greater than 350Watts (e.g.: space heater; microwave; air fryer; hair dryer; toaster).
This is a well-made, compact, lightweight inverter with a nice variety of features. The non-slip grips on the bottom of the inverter do a good job of securely holding the inverter in place.

We haven’t used it for power outage yet but it was very nice to know it was there if we need it!
    All good.

  6. Shawn

    Works great!
This item works as designed. It has powered a 43 inch TV for 7 hours. Must have if you live in an area where you are prone to power outages, natural or otherwise.
