    Great chainsaw, electric or not
This thing is great! It’s plenty big and mean and will do the job of any gas chainsaw…assuming you have a long enough cord. I cut through a 30+ inch dried out, rock-hard oak tree in several places and it was still keen to keep going. The mechanism for attaching the blade is pretty awkward to put together out of the box, but in the end it works well enough. Tightening the chain is easy, but you do end up having to adjust it pretty often. The motor is very powerful so it does still vibrate like a gas saw and it can be loud, but not as loud as gas. Do be warned, you will have to add your own bar and chain oil, it does not come with any. The oil did leak from the cap a little bit, but I didn’t have any other problems with the oil. I couldn’t tell that it gets hot and I never had to worry about over working it (again – oak!). The best part was the instruction booklet – unpack “with the help of a friend or trustworthy foe” haha!

    Pretty good low-cost chainsaw!
For how little I spent on this, I was quite happy with its performance! The chainsaw has plenty of power and it does a great job! I only have two complaints, the first being that it’s a corded chainsaw, so you have to drag a cord around wherever you go. But I knew this when I bought it, so that doesn’t count against the product. The second is that there’s no emergency brake, which every chainsaw I’ve ever used prior to this has had. This might be because it’s electric- the chain stops pretty soon after letting your finger off the trigger. But if the saw were to kick back and the chain were still running, there’s a guard but no brake to instantly stop the chain. Again, I’m not sure how critical that is on a chainsaw like this, but it’s good to know.
Being an electric chainsaw, it’s nice to only have to supply bar and chain oil and not gas as well. Also, it’s more maneuverable as it’s smaller than a comparable gas chainsaw. Not to mention it’s much quieter, the noise is much less objectionable than a gas chainsaw, and there’s no exhaust to breathe.
The chain tensioning mechanism is toolless and like every chainsaw needs periodic tensioning, but I found it to be better than expected at holding the tension.
I bought this because of its low cost to help me take a stump out, which is pretty abusive work for a chainsaw. So far it performed quite well! And I wasn’t planning on keeping it around once the job was done, but it’s not a half bad tool! In my experience, Wen builds decent quality tools at an affordable price (I have a few pneumatic nailers from them that I’ve used extensively, and also like.) I would certainly recommend this chainsaw as a good quality low-cost option!

A nice little chainsaw and MUCH easier to use than a gas version
I bought this saw to replace my gas powered chainsaw. I was just tired of messing around with the small gas engine after it sits for a few months. No mixing of fuel or pulling on the starter cord, just plug in and it goes. I chose a corded model because I was skeptical of the rechargeable battery versions. It would be a drawback if I wanted to take it to the woods, but I don’t. I have a larger property (300′ x 150′) and I can get pretty much everywhere I need to be with a 100′ extension cord. I used this saw to cut down and cut to 8′ lengths almost 2 tons (3900 pounds) of Siberian Pea Shrubs with diameters from 2 – 5 inches. I also used it to cut down and cut up a cherry tree with a 12 inch trunk. It is as powerful as a comparable gas saw. The chain tension is easy to adjust using controls on the side. No wrench needed. My only suggestion would be to have a chain brake, but with proper protective gear it’s a minor concern. It will leak chain oil if stored with the reservoir full, so empty it when not in use. A great little saw.

    Excellent Saw for the Price
I have A Stil MS 260 pro for my gas saw which I have used over the years without issues and was very happy with.. Later I bought a WEN cordless saw for light jobs around the property. That also is a good saw for that purpose.. Having broken the taboo of what i thought a chainsaw should be with my cordless I bought this saw.
this saw is great! This saw cuts just as fast and with the same power as my MS 260. I cut a good amount of red maple in no time and the with nice big chips (the chain has an aggressive cut). The chain is very sharp and moved a good amount of material quickly. The nice part about using an electric saw is once you let go of the trigger the saw goes quite and does’t need to idle. Just put the saw down, move your log and then go back to cutting.
Just three drawbacks i see are using this saw One, that the chain doesn’t stop moving as fast as I would like it to,two, there is no chain brake and three you need to keep track of where your cord is at all times so a not to cut it.
For convenience this can’t be beat, no air filters to clog, no gas and oil to be mixed, no emptying the fuel tank to store the saw over the winter.
the only thing to slow you down is the usual need to sharpen the chain.
This is a great way to cut fire wood if you have the 120 AC power nearby.
