    Great tool
My chain saw is very good. The battery is quite hefty as far as interchangeable batteries go, but the overall weight and balance of the chain saw with the battery inserted is excellent.
And it rips through six inch plus branches with ease. I used it extensively to cut back and log an old and twisted tree and the battery was still half-charged at the end of a couple of hours work.
I didn’t have any difficulty attaching the chain, as some reported, by making sure the tension adjust was in its most forward position before trying.
I haven’t tried the sharpener function but it appears to be robustly thought out. I expect it to work, but I have to blunt the chain first and I haven’t got there yet!!
I retensioned the blade after ~20 cuts and it was easy with the big red knob. No Allen key needed. Hurrah!
Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. I do only have it for occasional use.

    Best Purchase
People like to make fun of electric chainsaws but I personally love them, even though I’ve been cutting lumber for fire wood and fire mitigation for 35 years. Instant on, sharpens to a razor edge in 3 seconds without having to pull out tools and power to spare. Also, I can start working any time in the morning without having to worry about waking up my neighbors. I own a gas chainsaw for further into my property that I couldn’t get power to my other Oregon electric chainsaw and hated it. It is loud, bogged down in green trees and took 20 minutes to sharpen if it went into the dirt. This one I grab the battery out of the charger and I can drop several trees, branch them, cut them into logs for transport and still have half of a battery left. It is so much easier than dealing with the gas beast. The self-sharpening on these Oregon chainsaws are such a game changer. Start the blade, pull the lever for 2-3 seconds (NOT shooting the sparks into anything dry) and go on with your work.

Best Chain Saw I have ever used, for many reasons!
I have used several chainsaws over about the past 30 years. Almost all of them were gas powered. Some were easier to use than others, but none of them was as easy to use as this one! I has never used a battery-powered chainsaw before, but after much research, the Oregon seemed like the one to get. I have not been disappointed.
While it is not as powerful as some gas powered chainsaws, it does have several advantages that make up for this:
    1. It always starts. I have often struggled to get gas-powered tools started, which can make for disappointment when the tool decides to stop running and needs to be restarted. This is never a problem with the Oregon saw.
    2. Self-sharpening. This is the only chainsaw with this feature. It eliminates one of the most tedious tasks associated with operating a chainsaw. It sharpens effortlessly in seconds, a major plus.
    3. Chain rarely needs tightening. I’ve had this saw for about 8 months and I rarely have to tighten the chain. When I do, it is quick to adjust.
    4. Does not leak oil. Maybe I’m lucky or something, but this is the first chainsaw I have ever seen that does not leak oil when stored. “They all leak oil” is accepted wisdom with chainsaws, but this one seems to break that rule.
    5. Battery lasts a long time, with even power until empty. A 6.0 battery will easily last me a couple of hours.
    6. No more buying, carrying, mixing and pouring of gasoline. Just keep your batteries charged. The fuel is as close as a power socket.
    7. No gas engine maintenance, priming, etc.
    8. Cuts reliably and well, if a little slower than some gas chainsaws. If I add up all the time I save compared to trying to start a gas chainsaw, fooling with gasoline (buying, mixing, carrying, pouring), adjusting the chain, manually sharpening the chain and cleaning up leaked oil, I think I definitely save time and effort using the Oregon.
All this is to say that the Oregon CS300 is so easy to use that I do not hesitate to use it. I know I will work when I need it to, without giving me needless headaches. It is my favorite outdoor tool.
    I hope this is helpful.

    Just the ticket
This is the perfect saw for me and my tree filled acre lot. No fuel oil mix to go bad, no carburetors to diddle with. I would say it has at least 85% of the cutting power of my old gas chainsaw. It more than makes up for a slight drop off in performance in convenience and for what I’m doing most of the time, cutting 4 to six inch limbs, I don’t even notice a diference. The 2.4 Ah battery is just right for me. It’s not like I’m into an all day logging opperation. I just need to cut up the limbs that fall off my trees. Some of these limbs are 14 inches in diameter and 30 feet long but most are 4 to 8 inches diameter. I also got the standard battery charger and it will put me back to full charge in 90 to 120 minutes. I am not in such a hurry that I wanted to pay $80 for one that charges in thirty minutes or less. If I ever decide I need the 4 Ah battery I’ll buy it then.
Another plus. Less vibration than my gas saw. Another plus, It stops when I stop cutting. It’s not still running while I’m walking to another limb. Just push the button and one second latter I’m cutting again. Git ye one.
One caveat. To use the built in chain sharpener you have to buy a particular Oregon chain. It’s slightly more expensive but I believe it will be worth it in always having a sharp chain.

    Awesome chainsaw for lazy homegamer
I cut 3 cords of fire wood with this saw over the summer. It never gave me an issue and the best part is never had to mix oil and gas once! It’s an awesome saw that never gave me an issue.

    Impressive Saw
The battery life is amazing. I have a second battery that came with an Oregon pole saw. So, alternating using this with the two batteries and my gas saw, I can cut all day. The chain will not last long due to the tooth design. I replaced it with a conventional chain for much longer life, but it can’t be sharpened on the fly like the original. I’ve never had problems with the bar oiler.

Cutting fire wood Battery so so!

Having owned several gas chainsaws in the past and grown tired of mixing fuel, dealing with spark plug issues and engine adjustments, I decided to go cordless electric with this model for lighter jobs. It has been terrific thus far. The self-sharpening feature also had a lot of appeal and appears to work well, though I’ve only used it once after an extensive amount of property maintenance. While it doesn’t cut quite as fast as a powerful gas saw, I’ve found it to be only marginally slower. Very pleased.

This is my second 40 volt Oregon chainsaw. It fits my needs perfectly.
