DOA, which only means it’s good for an RMA
After assembly, and powering on for the first time, it doesn’t post. I get the solid orange LED. So now have to remove and swap around RAM slots.
After several attempts, find that one of the RAM slots finally works, only to now power on and get a solid white LED and still no display.
Also, the case fan doesn’t power at all, can only get the heatsink and GPU fans to run.
Reseated the PCIe slot, and still no change. Tried clearing CMOS (after shutting off) and still nothing.
Buying this motherboard will give you headache and the need to RMA.

Current best AM5 itx board
Most of the poor reviews for this board are for issues that wonât be a problem for most users. I donât think it deserves such a poor rating. Board has good amount of IO, 2 gen 5 nvme ssd slots, no coil whine (at least not audible above Noctua fans), and no need for the ridiculous hive module with the X series. For 95% of people, this is a better option than the X870i. Also, since this is priced similarly to the b650i, just get this one for the updates and less coil whine. Also, if you like more of a hands off approach of pc monitoring and whatnot, the ai controls are pretty decent.

Driver issues
Initially thought this was gong to be a great build in a FF04 case; however ASUS did not have the drivers for the wifi or BT features for Windows 10. Yes, I know Windows 10 is on its way out; however the customer wanted that OS. I found the patch files in an ASUS forum but the question remains is why do I have to hunt for drivers other than the manufacturers website for the mobo.? I had no choice but to install Windows 11 to solve the issue for the wifi (that patch files for BT fixed the problem, but not the wifi. You may think this is an extreme down-rating for this issue; but when you build PCs, this is the difference between a poorly ran company and a good one. I will look elsewhere for ITX mobos

Great motherboard
Board works great and with no issues. Used it in my build in the NCase M2. People seem to have issues with windows 10, but I use windows 11 so that doesnât matter to me.

Untenable WiFi Interface
It isn’t feasible to use third party antennae to improve the signal strength of WiFi/Bluetooth with this motherboard. The “Q-Antenna” interface on the board is CRC9 male (as opposed to the standard SMA male). There are no adapters between these interfaces, and no antennae designed for WiFi band and the rare interface this board uses. You are stuck with the ASUS antenna that ships with the board.
This design choice is a real head scratcher. Supposedly “Q-Antenna” is easier to use because it snaps on/off rather than the SMA screw on/off. But the trade-off is not worth abandoning a long-time industry standard interface. This is a step backwards from the B650E-I.

Pretty Good
There are at least two other ITX B850-sized boards; in my case, I am not able to detail full ITX usage, as I bought this board for a combination of stability and RAM overclocking.
First and foremost, this motherboard does not support an Arctic Liquid Freezer III; the tubes will be hitting the NVMe heatsink block, as well as even the NVMe when the block is off. You may be able to install the pump NORTH; however, you may cause your cooler to develop bubbles or deteriorate.
When it comes to overclocking RAM, this was on beta BIOS 1001 and 1002; it is able to go to its supported rate; however, it seems to be unstable, and this will depend on your CPU IMC (9800x3D here) and the RAM you are installing. I would recommend if you are buying this board for a new board, to look into 2×24 GB M-Die, which will be less intensive on the memory controller (less SoC voltage as well) and should be easier to stabilize at 8000 MHz.
The features this board has does indeed beat the Gigabyte alternative and are comparable to the Asrock version, in my opinion. Due to the above issues, I cannot fully recommend the board in my use case, but I can recommend it for those who want a nice and feature-heavy board.
When it comes to BIOS, ASUS is still cleaning up their AMD board’s BIOS, and so my recommendation goes to the other company, Asrock. Memory training and bootup times have been faster on the competitor, while on this board they have been fairly long. Assuming you place in numbers, Asus can take up to 3 minutes even then.
Unfortunately, we don’t have much ITX or dual DIMM boards that are both cheap and good, but I wish anyone reading luck on their SFF builds or RAM overclocking!
The build in image:
9800x3d
Copper Thermal Paste Guard (There is a Japanese review noting a few C lower in temps)
This Board
2x24gb TeamGroup Expert 7200 (@7800mhz stable, Y-cruncher, Karhu, TM5, 3h+)
MSI RTX 4070 Super Gaming X Slim
Arctic Liquid Freezer III
Phanteks Enthoo Pro II
Due to the motherboard and case constraint, I am also unable to install the “VRM FAN” for the AIO. It doesn’t affect much other than some VRM temperatures (which are fine even without).
This board is extremely powerful, and can be good if you are looking for a plug’n play!
In my use case, I will most likely be returning this board.

DRAM issues and stability
Even though DRAM is listed as compatible, the mobo was stuck on a perpetual yellow light until I updated the bios, which seemed to fix it.
Beyond that, I still encounter the DRAM light sometimes when booting, though it usually goes away after restarting.
Ill probably return this soon as the motherboard itself seems to be unstable in some way.
For anyone wondering, my unit didnt have any coil whine (big plus coming from b650e-i)
Just get the asrock board its cheaper.

No Windows 10 Wifi Drivers
Literally. You can confirm yourself on the driver page for this motherboard on Asus’s website. Windows 10 hasn’t even hit end of life service updates from Microsoft yet and there’s no Windows 10 driver for the Mediatek MT7925 found on this board. I cannot upgrade to Win 11 right now so this is massively disappointing for me.

Issues with drivers. installing windows 11, sound card malfunction, etc not a good experience with this mobo. returning.

Runs 9000 series right out of the box, has great customization features in the bios, and it looks great.
