Very High End Motherboard!
This Z890 motherboard from MSI is fantastic for the new 200 series processors from Intel. The construction is top notch, 8-layer, server grade components throughout. From the overbuilt vrm power stages to the reinforcement of the pcie slots this motherboard is a sight to behold. While this motherboard isn’t cheap $649 on Amazon, I think it’s construction more than justifies the higher price. I think the additional pcie lanes are great as you can now use a gen 5 nvme in slot m.1 without cutting into the Gpu lanes, x16 to x8 and cutting its output in half.Great job MSI..!

Awesome high-end motherboard. DIY-friendly.
The motherboard IO has plenty of high-speed interfaces, type-c and type-a ports. The new version of MSI motherboard is equipped with additional PCIE power supply for M.2. The CPU power supply is very sufficient to provide sufficient power for CPU overclocking. You can always trust MSI’s BIOS, which is exquisite, easy to understand and easy to set up.Recommended for people who need a high-end motherboard.

Absolutely beautiful MBO.
Purchased my first high end MBO to pair it with Intel Core Ultra 285K CPU. This MBO run TEAMGROUP 48GB 2 stick DDR5 8200Mhz in XMP profile Overclocked @ 8600mhz using MSI preset in the BIOS. I am happy with 8600mzh and did not bother to try higher speed. I am waiting for RTX 5080 Nvidia release the new GPU on 1/30/25. Cire Ultra i9 285K overclocked all P- Cores @5.6ghz and all E-Cores @5.1ghz. Ran Cinebench R23 results of 40,000 points. I will probably try 5.7ghz all P Cores at a later date. I am on a custom built watercooling with GTX 360mm radiator and small fan sit behind the CPU to keep temperature in check during high CPU load.

Gorgeous and exquisite motherboard
This is definitely one of the most beautiful high-end motherboards, with an excellent texture. I really love the golden sheenâitâll be perfect for building a black-and-gold themed PC.The performance is also excellent, The memory can easily run above 8000MHz.And both the SSD heatsink and VGA card have very convenient quick-release mechanisms.

One of the best if not the best
I upgraded from an Alienware R13 and this thing is a beast. The only thing I dont like about the mobo is that the 2nd Gen 5 m.2 slot. For me to be able to use it, I would have to sacrifice the GPU’s speed. Overall though I love this Mobo. Highly recommended!Pros:Wifi 7CoolingSpeed5 m.2 SlotsI/O is more than enoughcons:2 gen 5 nvme slots but if you use slot 4, gpu’s speed will decrease.

The Perfect Fusion of Premium Style and Top-Tier Performance
I have been looking for a motherboard that merges top-tier performance with stunning aesthetics, the MSI Z890 ACE is a phenomenal choice. From the moment I unboxed it, I was blown away by its premium build quality and stylish designâthe black and gold color scheme is simply elegant, showcasing MSIâs impeccable attention to detail. Itâs clear that form and function were paramount in its construction, creating a perfect blend of art and engineering. One of my favorite features is the toolless design for the NVMe heatsink. It makes installation incredibly straightforwardâno more fumbling around with tiny screws. Speaking of M.2 storage, MSI went above and beyond by including 5 NVMe M.2 slots, one of which supports Gen5 x4 for blistering speeds. Plus, thereâs another slot that can switch between Gen4 and Gen5 via BIOS configuration, giving you maximum flexibility to tailor your setup as technologies evolve.Beyond storage, the connectivity options are second to none. You get plenty of USB ports for all your peripherals, along with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, which provide lightning-fast data transfer and expanded versatility for modern devices. The inclusion of 10Gbps LAN and Wi-Fi 7 ensures youâre always at the forefront of networking speedsâperfect for gamers, content creators, or anyone who requires reliable, high-throughput connections. The Dual BIOS is another highlight. If you ever need to experiment with different system setups or recover from a corrupted firmware update, this feature can be a real lifesaver. Meanwhile, the boardâs heavyweight construction and backplate covering convey a sense of durability and premium craftsmanship, and the excellent heat dissipation design keeps thermals in check under intense loads.Overall, the MSI Z890 ACE is truly a top-of-the-line motherboard. It delivers exceptional performance, robust connectivity, and thoughtful extras like the toolless NVMe heatsink, Dual BIOS, and abundant M.2 slots. If you want a motherboard that will not only power your high-end system but also turn heads with its refined black and gold aesthetic, look no further than this remarkable MSI offering. Itâs the perfect centerpiece for any enthusiast or professional PC build.

The MSI MEG Z890 ACE is an absolute beast! The build quality is premium, and it has everything a gamer or power user needsâPCIe 5.0, DDR5 support, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, and strong VRMs for overclocking. Setup was smooth, and the BIOS is user-friendly. Runs flawlessly with my Intel CPU, and the connectivity options are top-notch. Definitely worth the price for a high-end build! Highly recommended!

For the past six years, I’ve used nothing but high-end MSI boards for my builds. In 2018, it was the Z390 Godlike. In 2021, it was the Z690 Ace. So when it was time for another upgrade in 2024, I chose the Z890 Ace (mainly because the Z890 Godlike hadn’t been released yet). Both the Z390 Godlike and the Z690 Ace were stellar boards. The Z890 Ace, on the other hand, was a major disappointment. On paper, sure, it looks great. It had all the features I wanted, and then some. But in reality, it’s clear that MSI has been cutting corners, making unnecessary changes, and the quality of their high-end product has taken a hit as a result.Right from the beginning, as soon as I powered up the board, I could tell something wasn’t right. Both the mouse AND keyboard movements when navigating in the BIOS would freeze constantly. To try and picture what I’m describing, imagine you’re in the BIOS and you press and hold the down-arrow key. You would expect that you would scroll through all of the options from top to bottom in a smooth transition. In reality, what would happen is you scroll through about 4 or 5 options, then everything would freeze. The freeze would last about half a second, then it would un-freeze, and you resume scrolling for another 4-5 options, then it would freeze again. This would happen in any direction (up, down, left, right). With mouse movements, the same thing. Imagine taking your mouse and just moving it in large circles. You would expect a smooth, seamless movement of the mouse cursor. Instead, what you get is about 1-2 seconds of movement, then the same half-second of freezing, then the movement resumes, then freezes again. This made it extremely frustrating to navigate through the BIOS, especially because as a power user with a high-end board, I made extensive changes in the BIOS across many pages.I contacted MSI support via their web site (filled out a form) and someone got back to me via e-mail. After repeating in e-mail exactly what I already wrote in the web form, their solution was, “Please try the latest A21 BIOS”. I was already running the latest BIOS, so that didn’t help. I decided to wait for the next BIOS update to be released, which came two weeks later (version A24). The issue was still present. Two weeks after that, came version A3. The issue was still present. Two weeks after that, came version A4. Issue was still present. The final BIOS that I tried came about three weeks later, version A5, which was in mid-January of 2025. This was now two full months after I bought the board. The issue was still there.By this point, I had enough. MSI said that they would be happy to issue an RMA number for me so that I can send them my board, and they will fix it under warranty. Uhhh….what? I just spent the last two months in complete frustration and spent $930 on this board. Your solution is to have me send it to you while I sit here with no system in the meantime? And I’m supposed to wait how many weeks or months before you send me something back? Any competent customer-care department would immediately offer to send out a replacement board to the customer at no charge, and AFTER the customer receives the new board, the original can be sent back to the manufacturer. That’s the correct way to handle customers who buy your most expensive products. In addition to the BIOS freezing, my RAM would only work at 4400 MHz, even though MSI’s support page claimed 4800 MHz was possible with my configuration (I was using four sticks of 32 GB rated for 5200 MHz). XMP didn’t work. Manual tuning didn’t work. No matter what, I was stuck at 4400 MHz.And last but not least, the horrible changes that MSI made to the BIOS. They went from a really nice layout in the Z390 and Z690 using their red/black theme, to a really ugly mustard yellow. If the color wasn’t bad enough, the layout is completely un-intuitive. Somebody clearly wanted change for the sake of change because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous design.Oh and I almost forgot. When the BIOS update process starts, you have no idea what’s happening. No screen messages. No progress bar. The system just freezes for several minutes (not seconds), and then after a long wait, you suddenly see the progress bar.As you might imagine, I had gotten completely fed up with this board and bought an ASUS ROG Strix Z890-E Gaming WiFi. I paid $330 less than what I paid for the MSI Z890 Ace. No absurd freezing in the BIOS. My RAM works at 5200 MHz right out of the box with no tweaking. And when I update the BIOS, I get proper feedback telling me exactly what’s happening from the moment I start the process. The Z890 Ace was sent back for a refund, and it’ll probably be another decade before I even consider another MSI board again. Somehow, ASUS managed to make a mid-range $599 motherboard that was better than MSI’s high-end $930 board.I gave it two stars instead of one, just for the simple reason that once I was inside Windows, the board was stable. But at this price point, this should be a five-star review, because a high-end product like this shouldn’t have this many problems.
