The Sony a7R IIIA is a high-performance camera that demonstrates that speed, resolution, and video capabilities can coexist. This versatile camera is known not only for its high resolution but also for its multimedia versatility. It features a 42.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated design. This sensor, in conjunction with the BIONZ X image processor, allows for high-resolution stills and video, reduces noise, and enhances speed.
The sensor structure is designed to enhance detail and improve light collection. This is achieved through a gapless on-chip lens design, an anti-reflection coating, and the removal of the optical low-pass filter. The structure also includes a copper wiring layer that significantly boosts data transmission speed. This allows for the creation of 14-bit, high-resolution 42.4-megapixel stills. The sensor has a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000, which can be extended to ISO 50-102400.
The full-frame sensor allows for internal UHD 4K video recording, offering a broad dynamic range across the entire width of the sensor. The BIONZ X processor, in collaboration with a high-speed front-end LSI, delivers faster processing times and the ability to capture a remarkable 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity levels. This combination of sensor and processor also provides rapid continuous shooting at a rate of up to 10 fps at full resolution, for a maximum of 76 consecutive frames.
