Great tool – was able to install a Dremel collet nut set on it as well
I will start by addressing the issues that some have mentioned.
The collet either not taking a bit or not tightening up on a bit.
The collet nut was stuck when I got it and it took a few bit swaps for it to loosen up..
What I found is the collet nut at the top is what tightens and loosens the collet. You spin that top nut anti clockwise while holding the lower flange of the collet with some pliers you can get it to loosen up to take a bit. Do the opposite direction to get it to tighten on a bit.
Eventually it will get to the point you can open and close it by hand using the knurled part.
As for having the option to use thinner shaft bits than what is supplied.
I opted to also purchase a drill chuck collet set for a Dremel. This fitted right on the shaft of the Ryobi after I removed the collet nut it came with. Those sets have multiple collets for the different bit shaft thickness.
What I really like about the tool:
– Came with multiple sample bits.
– Barely uses a battery.
– Adjustable speed.
– Was able to swap the collet nut for a standard Dremel one that could take multiple collets.
Negatives:
– If you want to use thinner shaft bits you will have to buy a collet set.

Exactly what I needed
Got this to precisely file acrylic. Works perfect.

Easy to use
This makes using a lot easier than a handheld tool that has the motor in your hand.
My wife likes that itâs easier on her thumbs and not as heavy as other models.

Excellent little device
I was very impressed with the device it works better than what I replaced. It weirdly came in an Amazon box not a Ryobi box but it had all the information booklets and expected pieces.

This has saved me. Being battery powered and portable. I have been able to get much more use from it by taking it to the job rather than taking the job to it. A must have for DIY projects.
Max L –
This is my 3rd rotary tool. Once of the most useful accessories you can have. I like the design, but found the chuck and fittings slightly confusing initially. I have an existing mix of accessory sizes (grinding wheels, cutters etc.) that seem to fall into two sizes. Previous tools have had collets for both these sizes. This tool only has collets for one size (my old ones didn’t fit this tool). The first task was to cut some plastic – but a suitable wheel wasn’t supplied and my existing wheels didn’t fit. So a bad start! Once I’ve bought some new wheels, it will be fine. Having the portability of a battery will make life so much easier, especially when working in tight spaces. Seems to have plenty of torque when turned up to Max.
