    Wow Impressive Depth of Sound
I truly expected this to sound more like the Marshall Middleton but it’s closer to my JBL Xtreme 4. This is definitely more in between those two but closer to the Xtreme with regards to The balanced sound on all levels. Doesn’t quite have the low end bass of the Xtreme but the sound clarity beats it in spades. This is the perfect speaker to make a music playlist for a variety of genres and just let it play all day! Very happy with this purchase and got it for well under $200. If it’s still at this price point I would recommend anyone jump on it. You won’t regret it!

Amazing Klipsch sound in a very sturdy tough feeling housing. No Aux port though 🙁
I really like the sound of this Bluetooth speaker. I’m a longtime Klipsch fan but their mobile products can sometimes be hit or miss. They mostly knocked it out of the park with the Detroit, at least with the sound quality and rugged design, I would have really liked a physical 3.5mm aux port because the speakers sound high quality enough that they could go beyond what Bluetooth is capable of. That said, over Bluetooth does sound fantastic with some solid bass, best I’ve heard in a Bluetooth speaker. I used to use a Bose Soundlink mini 2 and I’ve been trying out other Bluetooth speakers over the years and was waiting to make a big upgrade. I don’t just play music on my Bluetooth speaker, I like to use it with a projector at family or friends for a movie night and this speaker beats an entry level sound bar in both quality and bass but might lack in the lack dialog boost feature that sound bars have. 3.5mm aux would have perfect to use with the projector but the delay didn’t look bad or unwatchable.
Keep in mind this is a bit bigger for a Bluetooth speaker, I included a picture next to an average metal mug. This will only fit into bookbags and the like. This isn’t a messenger bag sized speaker but it does have a handy carrying strap built in.

    Crystal clear audio
I am a huge fan of Klipsch. I have many of their products and this one definitely does not disappoint. You can feel the quality just by handling the speaker. It is heavy, which is perfectly fine by me as it is a character of quality when it comes to these certain things.
The setup was super easy, as would be expected. The highs are finer and more pronounced than any other BT speaker or even my Bose headphones. Bass is a bit lacking in my opinion, but it makes up for it with clarity and bright sound. It hits all the notes when streaming Lossless audio. Was pricey, but Klipsch is most of the time. This is a prime example of getting what you pay for.

Klipsch has made the best sounding Bluetooth Portable Speaker
Edited..I dropped it to 3 stars since they are still falsely advertising the battery life. Read below to find out more. Klipsch tech support even verified my findings. If they correct their adds it will go back up a star. Otherwise superb
This thing is awesome. Klipsch has almost always pleased the audiophiles and this is no exception. I have never heard a portable Bluetooth speaker that sounds this great. I can only imagine two in stereo. It’s high end sound yet not insanely priced. And it’s loud and clear. At 10 out of 16 volume level sitting on my deck it vibrates the deck and my chair. Sound is perfect. At around 14 you get a warning in the app that this going to get very loud. Is this ok? 🤣🤣. It’s not kidding yet it retains clarity. I was waiting for this to come out. I am glad I did. With that said they have been very misleading with battery life. It will not get near to 21 hours unless you run it constantly at low volume. I worked with support for a couple weeks on battery life. Volume goes from 0-16. I was running 8-10 outdoors ( my main use and maybe getting 7-8 hours). Inside at low volume with podcasts it seemed to do much better so I can only assume full range sound with any volume drastically reduces battery life. Support stated it was normal life that I was getting and the rating was based on running around half volume. 8-10 is not that far above have volume (remember that full is 16). 2-4 notches above halfway should not give you only 1/3 battery life if they say 21 hour rating. I now run a portable power pack on the unit when outside and it gives me close to their rating between the pack and internal. I am not sure how this will affect the internal battery’s lifetime. I was going to get a second for stereo (it really does sound amazing) but not now knowing the battery life. I was told that support wants them to rethink their rating. I seriously question the rating even at half volume. It is still 4 stars for sound, sturdiness and water resistance.
I did come back to add one comment. While this gets mainly 5 stars everywhere, there is no such thing as one speaker for every person. I saw 2 3 star reviews (only 2 so far) that both mentioned bass response. One said lack of bass. The others and it lacked depth of bass which I can only assume means it does do the over blown, flabby, thumping bass you hear in hip hop and rap. If that is your thing then I suggest some from Dr Dre and Beats. I am a former audio engineer from many years ago and hate anything by Beats because the bass is not tight. Like I said, no one solution. I can say that the bass on this is tight and punchy and what I would have went for in the 80’s. It will shake you a bit without get overblown. I am not slamming any one. Everyone has their own preference. If you are into hip hop and rap this probably is not the right speaker for you. The only other ding I have seen is strap sturdiness. A few 4 stars because the feel the elastic will stretch. I don’t see this being an issue. It seems sturdy to me and I won’t be carrying it 24/7. I will say this. For music it blows my LG Dolby Atmos soundbar out of the water for music clarity and sound in general. And it was $800

    Great, full bodied sound.
Pairing to stereo is a little fiddly but sounds great, sufficiently loud, battery lasts sufficiently long – very convenient.

  6. Genius dolsoi

    Great sounding bluetooth speaker
The speakers deliver incredible volume. The bass is good, the treble is good, and it is easy to operate. Is it obvious that it is a Bluetooth speaker?
3.3kg is not light. There is no aux. The wired ultra-high-quality speaker function does not work. If the treble tweeter is in front, the music sounds great, but if it is not in front, the treble sounds weak and only the bass is emphasized. There is a hearing zone with good sound. For optimal sound, you need to adjust the EQ according to the height, distance, and front. It has a very convenient removable elastic strap for easy portability.
This is a good choice if you want to fill your space with music.

    Awesome sound
Saw the message this speaker gets returned often I don’t know why I’ve had jbl and Bose and this speaker blows them away having the app to adjust settings to your preference is a big plus yes it’s expensive but I think it’s worth it bought my first stereo in 1977 but couldn’t afford klipsch at that time worth the wait excellent quality

App problem and unreliable customer support
The app that controls this speaker is garbage. Even worst is klipsch customer service. They are a total joke I got tired of going back and forth forth with them over email. The speaker does ok an has power.

Beschallt locker mehrere Räume in meiner Wohnung .

    Sound
Kudos to the manufacturer for not going with the herd and providing this speaker with a wonderfully neutral sound tuning.
The sound is full, very clean, rich and accurate.
Both low and high frequencies are tightly controlled, and vocals are clear and natural.
Excellent dynamics and stereo channel separation.
If you like to listen properly, you don’t need to do anything, just connect the speaker and listen with factory settings.
But if you’re a fan of JBL, Sony, Marshal, Bose or SoundCore, you’ll probably find Detroit’s neutral tuning a bit boring.
In a way, the Detroit is to me an upgrade of the SoundCore Motion Plus, because even though SoundCore itself has released a bunch of new Motion series speakers, it hasn’t been able to improve on this legendary model.
    Design
Just a rough heavy brick wrapped in thick black rubber. Something from the garage aesthetic…
Although this speaker is a real gem for listening to music at home, it certainly won’t decorate your living room.
I understand – beach, pool, forest, protection against water and dust…
But for that, there are a million three or four times cheaper and more portable speakers with sound specially tuned for outdoor activities and loud parties.
The Detroit is more of an audiophile speaker and sounds best indoors.
Therefore, I would like to see it with an elegant retro-style wooden case.
A good example of aesthetics is the Doss Soundbox H200, but they made a terrible design mistake by putting the tweeters in the middle of the case.
But the brick-covered black rubber is still better than the cheap plastics and locksmith toolbox-like design of the Earfun UBoom X, Tribit Stormbox Blast, or SoundCore motion Boom Plus.
Thank goodness that stupid strap comes off, I took it off as soon as I unpacked the speaker and hope I don’t need it.
    Functions
High-end audio comes with an incredibly limited feature package.
Or maybe it’s a ploy by the manufacturer to bring an improved Detroit 2 later and make money again…
The buttons are probably diamonds hidden under the rubber, so it’s probably understandable that you’re only getting four for that price…
No multi-function button, no TWS button, no EQ button…
I’ll just let you in on a secret: the Bluetooth button works as a play/pause or answer call button with a short press.
Also, press and hold the BT and Volume Up buttons at the same time to perform a factory reset.
I quite liked the idea of turning the BT button into a multi-function button, but I can’t imagine why Klipsch couldn’t make that button two-click and three-click to control track selection.
Also, if we borrowed the design from Marshal Midleton, why can’t we borrow the track selection idea from Tronsmart Studio? Long press the volume down button – previous track, long press the volume up button – next track.
Volume increments are too large, therefore, indoors, it is almost impossible to adjust the volume optimally – one step is too quiet, the next is already too loud.
It is not possible to set the Auto Off timer or turn it off at all. It’s good to save battery, but some users are waiting for a call and don’t want the speaker to turn off after 10 or 15 minutes.
If the manufacturer wanted to, these problems could easily be solved through firmware updates.
I hope the Klipsch customer service team reads the reviews and I don’t have to write to them personally.
I’ve been collecting Lossless quality recordings all my life, so I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get either the APTx or LDAC codecs for this price. SoundCore manages to offer this with a €50 speaker. I would have gladly paid that much for an LDAC codec…
There’s no AUX input either, so you won’t get better sound quality even over a cable. And if you are blind and use a screen reader, speech synthesis will be delayed and interfere with computer work.
    Battery
I’ve seen a lot of user complaints about battery life, but it really depends on your listening habits.
Cultured people do not listen to music loudly. And true audiophiles know that quieter really means louder… If you’re hosting a party, the dancing lasts for hours, and Detroit’s battery life should be plenty.
Battery life depends not only on volume, but also on EQ settings and ambient temperature.
Of course, a lot depends on the conscience and self-respect of the manufacturer’s advertising department…
    For example, my experience is:
SoundCore Motion Plus – Advertised 12 hours, at 30% volume I get about 16 hours.
SoundCore Motion X600 – advertised 12 hours, at 23% volume I get about 15 hours.
SoundCore Motion 300 – advertised 13 hours, at 27% volume I get about 12 hours.
Tribit Maxsound Plus – advertised 20 hours, at 27% volume I get about 12 hours.
Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 – advertised 10 hours, I listen outdoors at 53% volume and get about 8 hours.
Klipsch Detroit – advertised 20 hours, I listen at 27% volume and get about 24 hours.
So as you can see the Detroit battery lasts the longest and I am very happy with it.
If I’m going to have an outdoor party, I’d take a Powerbank, (I think every house has at least one spare battery these days), but I’d most likely choose something cheaper and lighter for an outdoor party. For example, SoundCore Boom 2, which is often sold for only €90.
It’s just that the Detroit is too expensive and the sound quality is too good for me to take it outside. Also, it won’t sound like the SoundCore booms in the field.
    App
The Klipsch Connect Plus app is my biggest disappointment and complaint against the manufacturer.
Not because the app is bad, but because Klipsch’s programmers didn’t make it accessible for people with disabilities.
I am blind and use Android with Google TalkBack screen reader.
Just TalkBack reads everything, but I can’t click many of the options in the app, nor can I access the equalizer sliders.
I know the app works fine with Apple’s Voice Over, but not all Europeans want to be subject to Apple’s restrictions, so most use Android.
If it wasn’t for the perfectly matched Detroit sound, I would immediately return the speaker due to the lack of accessibility of the app.
I ask the manufacturer to take this issue seriously and make the app compatible with Google TalkBack so that it can be used by blind people who like to listen the most.
    Evaluation
The Detroit brought me perfectly tuned sound, a simple but solidly built design, and good battery life.
Let’s put limited functionality and an app inaccessible to the blind on the other side of the scale.
As a factor of optimism, let’s add the hope that the manufacturer will take into account some of the problems expressed here and solve them with updates.
For today I have to say that for the money I paid it’s a bit too low, so I’m only giving it three stars.
There will be a serious attitude of the manufacturer, there will be more stars…
