Whether you’re tearing through lumber, cutting curves into plywood, or even slicing up sheet metal, you need a jigsaw. The Ryobi P5231 jigsaw, in fact. This is one of the toughest cordless tools in Ryobi’s 18V lineup. It has a powerful orbiting motor than can work up to 3,000 strokes per minute, adjustable with a switch at the top of the unit. It’s accessible even if you have a finger on the trigger. These are the kinds of smart designs implemented on the unit. Another convenient feature is the trigger lock system, which lets you focus all of your energy on controlling the unit without having to press the trigger. There are also graphics printed that let you see what the four speed settings are ideal for. You’ll notice that the highest speeds are ideal for straight cuts through lumber and the lower speeds are meant for spiral cuts through sheet metal or thin plywood.     Sturdy and easy to change the blade
    It is not a light weight jigsaw but it does cut well through a variety of materials. I prefer a lighter weight jigsaw but it’s going to work well for you and works great. Get a lot of use when using a 4ah battery. Variable speed is adjustable for different types of materials on the tool itself. Quick blade change is a nice feature

    Extremely rugged
    I’ll never, in 30 years, be as hard on this tool as the trip it took to get to me was. The box looked like it had been through 3 wars and lost all of them. But the jigsaw inside was in excellent condition and worked perfectly. Very pleased with the quality as I have been with all the Ryobi 18V One+ tools I’ve ordered (10 of them so far). Only drawback is the blade(s). None of my U blades fit and the saw came with only one blade, so I had to buy a set of T-blades–and for some reason, Amazon doesn’t carry Ryobi jigsaw blades.
