Good tool for the your tool bag.
There is a big difference between a regular stud finder and Walabot… I was preparing to fish a wire through a wall I began scanning the wall. I found the studs exactly where the Walabot showed, in the middle I showed either pipes or wires two to be exact. When I removed the sheet rock I found a single vent, but above where I cut opening was a Y in the vent pipe and so two pipes just a the Walabot displayed. I also used a regular older model stud finder and found the studs but not the pipes or wires… as far as I’m concerned the Walabot identified much more and is a very good tool to have in the tool bag. When cutting into walls a mistake of cutting a pipe or wire can be very costly in time and money trying to repair… Walabot give the DIY or pro an advantage of not making a costly mistake when use properly.

In many ways better than a standard stud finder
I purchased this because I am working on a house that has plaster over sheet rock walls. I needed to know the location of the studs but also for the BX wiring behind the wall I was able to see through the thick wall and found it convenient to locate things that otherwise couldnât be seen. I do find it frustrating that when I remove it from the wall, I have to reconnect and recalibrate it. could be. Itâs not using Bluetooth from what I understand it uses Wi-Fi. I just wish the Wi-Fi would stay connected and I could move the device from one spot to another without waiting.

Aweful, just aweful.
I wanted this to work out, I really did. The ideal is fantastic, being able to see what’s actually behind the wall with some intelligence is what I wanted. But after I clicked the button I read a few other reviews, and the disappointment quickly set in.Things you need to know.1) This is extremely overpriced for the value that it delivers.2) It’s almost impossible to use.Why they used WIFI for the connection is beyond me. Maybe, if you’re in a house that has no other wifi it might hold a connection. I spent 30 minutes, THIRTY MINUTES, trying to keep it connected to get through the calibration. Even when I did that, the results were underwhelming. This should have been either a) Bluetooth, or b) a tethered connection for reliability saving on development costs too.It should also be magnetic so your phone sticks to it or it to your phone for one handed operation. As it is now, you need both hands, or maybe you can try to hold the things together while you mark the wall but that’s just not easy to do.3) It’s not reliable. It saw stuff that didn’t exist. I’m fortunate to have an unfinished wall that I can access on the other side. I used that for testing, and just got even madder. No way I’m putting up with the usability issues for something that isn’t even accurate.I ordered the other higher-end stud finder that’s about $50 and couldn’t be happier. It’s being returned TODAY.

I had put off spending the money on a good stud finder and finally decided to get one that really worked. We had a home project the Walabot stud finder worked flawlessly. The calibration was easy and finding the studs was piece of cake. After the project, I order the magnet rings for my Iphone to make things even easier. I am glad that I finally spent the extra $$âs on it.

I like this a lot! But, it’s a bit too pricey in my opinion…
Well first, I will say that I do like the Walabot DIY 2 and I have found it to work really well for me. And in my past experiences with anything as expensive as this, I’ve always found it best to get name brand accessories for it (accessories made by the same company). And so, when I investigated doing that with this device I found that the case for it that’s made by Walabot and has their logo on it costs $59.95. Can y’all believe that!? I even started to go through with the purchasing process so I could get the total with shipping. The shipping wound up being $13.99 for me, so the total was going to be $73.94, for just a little zip case big enough to fit a Walabot in!!Hold on though. There’s another accessory called the “Walattach – MagSafe Compatible Connector Rings.” And all you really get is a round ring magnet and a round ring magnet receptor with sticky backs on them, for… $34.95! And this is so you can put one on the back of your phone or phone case, and put the other on the Walabot so that they can be magnetically connected when you are using them. AND, they even say in the details that, if you already have a case or phone with a magnet on it, that you will only need the magnet receptor. Basically telling you it’s going to cost $34.95 just to get one.. little.. flimsy.. magnet.. receptor.. from them…On the bright side though, if you can afford one of these I’ve found it to work pretty good. I’ve always had a really hard time finding where studs are in the wall, even while using those stud finders that you slide along the wall that just show a red light when they pass over an obstruction. Well, with this thing I don’t just easily find the studs. I can also easily find the CENTER of the studs too. Which eliminates the worry of hitting the edge of a stud instead, which could cause possible problems down the line.So I am plenty happy with my Walabot DIY 2. I just think it should come with a case at the price that it is… And I can’t justify paying over $70 just for a case that they claim will be more protective than any other case. Also, just the fact that they are charging so much for a case AND the Walattach things, is proof to me that they are over charging everyone for , well, everything most probably. And that’s not cool at all. I almost feel like I should take more than one star off because of that too… But I DID receive what I expected to get and so far, it HAS performed like I expected it to. So I decided to give it a score of 4… out of, 5.

New Walabot
I bought the original style a few years ago and love it. Unfortunately my phones connector port is wonky and the cord won’t stay linked to the phone. With the new with not needing a cord to connect to the phone it’s perfect for me. I love this product. I like to show it off and watch people’s faces when they see it at work.

Accurately located joist,Studs etc great for diy-er & professional at first i thought it only worked if you have access to wi-fi, infact it has buiilt in wi-fi so is good for the onsite professional as well a great product although a bit stingy not to include the magnetic ring attachment so you can mount your phone on top of the device. You can purchase this separately on line !It is pricey but if your cutting into ceilings and walls all day its worth its weight in gold !!

It didn’t work at first, it was disconnecting a lot. We’ve thought about returning it. But decided to give it a try on a different phone and it worked. It was the phone that wasn’t compatible with the app, my husband phone is an older phone (Huawei Pro 20) and it didn’t work on that one. We have installed on my phone (Samsung S23 Ultra) and it worked very well. We could see the stilts (wood, metal), wires, pipes in the wall. It’s a vey useful product for your DIY projects around the house and even for the professional use. It’s a bit expensive, but it’s worthing. Definitely a good buy. It’s just not compatible with every phone. If Itâs not working for you, try install it on a different phone.
