Third party aftermarket products exist for adding powering options in instances where a C-wire does not exist. Includes a 5-year manufacturer . Product Enhancements for Commercial Use: Humidifier Algorithm Update allows the thermostat to control both evaporative and steam type external humidifier accessories. Dehumidifier Algorithm update includes Hot Gas Reheat compatibility that allows the thermostat to meet the humidity set point when connected to products equipped with a Hot Gas Reheat coil, such as a Bosch Water Source Heat Pump. This feature also allows the thermostat to meet the humidity set point through passive dehumidification when using Bosch Water Source Heat Pumps equipped with an ECM Motor. The new Cool to Dehumidify feature allows the thermostat to meet the humidity set point while in cooling operation when connected to an external dehumidifier accessory. Both configurations allow the thermostat to function as a humidistat to meet the humidity set point.
SAVE ENERGY AND MONEY: This Alexa-enabled, internet-connected programmable thermostat simply connects to Wi-Fi to control temperature and settings from your smart phone or tablet (fully functional without Wi-Fi as well)
MODERN SLEEK TOUCH SCREEN: The full color, 5-inch display touchscreen allows easy scheduling to provide the most comfortable temperature for your home from anywhere
MULTI-USE COMPATIBILITY: Including heat pump (4 Heat, 2 Cool) or conventional (2 Heat, 2 Cool) systems, any 1-wire internally powered humidifier or dehumidifier, and most 24 VAC HVAC equipment on the market. Not compatible with other Bosch Boiler controls, such as the Logamatic
NEW COMMERCIAL UPDATES: Updates allow control of both evaporation and steam type external humidifier accessories. Plus, hot gas reheat and cool to dehumidify capabilities. Now Dual Fuel system compatible; may work with HVAC systems that use both gas and electric power (more information on updates in product description)
C-WIRE REQUIRED: A C-wire (common wire) is required to power the unit. Two wire systems are not supported. The C-wire is used to provide power to the thermostat and is available on most HVAC systems today that have three or more wires. Third party aftermarket products exist for adding powering options in instances where a C-wire does not exist

Very cool! I would recommemd it.
I like it a lot. It’s very cool looking and look/function of APP is cool as well. Didn’t take long to install. I have 3 and they have been working flawlessly so far.
Found YouTube videos on need for and how to install a C wire more helpful than Bosch’s videos, but they are still useful assuming you have an extra wire to use & C terminal in your furnace panel.
I now feel Bosch tech support IS VERY HELPFUL (they have always tried but more methodical more recently). I would recommend people have patients & give installation a try. I want to say for those that had Wi-Fi connection issues all these Wi-Fi devices are quirky, you just can’t give up. My August lock was way more complicated to get working because the Wi-Fi & bluetooth connection aspects are exceptionally challenging. The light contol device i have was less challenging to get working with Wi-Fi, but harder than connecting this thermostat. While the thermostat set up can be a little trial & error I think once you register the device & wait say 10 minutes it begins to work. I say this from experience of instaling 3 (and light & door lock devices). The first was a little challenge & the 3rd was a snap. The APP is so cool cause it lets me contol all 3 very simply.
Even though it didn’t work with Alexa at first i assumed Bosch would come throuh & they did! Google next Bosch & i want more devices. Light contol, flood sensor, & a device that will help me interface with my alarm system. Bosch you are huge, you CAN get this done!
Recently, I was wondering why it didn’t go to set point all the time while in heating mode, but was low 1 degree. Called Bosch & they told me how to get into expert setting mode (apparently it’s explained in manual but I missed that) & there is a contol for how close you want the band between set point & room temperature to contol how often it will cycle your equipment. I didn’t adjust cause I don’t want 2 cycle my equipment into wearing out earlier, so I just raised the set point a degree. I found there are other advanced features you can tweak. Very cool! I saw other people complain about tech support & I would only say that’s not been my experiemce & let’s not forget its a new prodict, so they had to get their legs under them. So my feeling is they are gaining experience & should be better as time goes on.
Do yourself a favor people. Check with your electric & gas companies. Mine offered $100 rebate if I installed a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat. It made it a no-brainer decision. I just love our elected officials who love to give our hard earned tax dollars away, so I try to be 1st in line for the handouts.

Continuous and documented software problems for all
I have owned this thermostat for one year and four months. I do NOT recommend this thermostat and below is my full review and the reasons why this deserves a one-star rating.
A little background. I need a thermostat with two requirements: Set my schedule by time of day, and connect through my phone to make temporary adjustments. I live in an area with time of use electricity rates, so I do not need a learning thermostat — I know when to turn it on and off. I also wanted the ability to connect through my phone to verify the current temperature and if we have a longer than expected day away from the house, we can temporarily adjust the temperature.
Looks: This thermostat looks nice hanging on the wall, has a large colorful screen, and has a white bezel.
User interface: The interface and menu layout are well thought out and easy to navigate. The hold and temporary function are not as intuitive as they could be, but ok once you get used to it. The advanced functions require an access code in the manual, so each time I want to check them I have to find the manual. The schedule setup is a little clunky, but works once you work through it.
Technical Support: As you will read below, I have made several calls to tech support. Each time they were helpful, kind, and informative â but usually unable to solve my issues.
The reason I cannot recommend this thermostat:
The Software: The problems with this have been ongoing since day one — if itâs not one thing itâs another. For the first six months the device would randomly not connect to the thermostat or allow me to make temperature changes from the app. Sometimes it would respond, but not allow us to release the temporary temperature hold. I could fix it by pressing the little reset button on the actual unit â little use when I am 50 miles away from home.
Approximately 3 months ago Bosch had a major software update for the thermostat and phone. Everything worked great for 1 month, but one day the unit would not connect to my home wifi. I contacted tech support and they were having an issue since the update and to try again in a couple days. Why my issue started a month after the update, nobody knows. It took about a week, but then it magically started connecting again. It worked for about a month and then the clock started displaying the wrong time. I would try to set it manually, but that caused it to set to a different time entirely â truly bizarre. This is crucial to my time of use electric plan, if it has the wrong time and turns on my AC unit during my peak electric rates only one time during the month, it would cost me enough to pay for the thermostat. The time issue seemed to resolve itself after about 2 weeks. The latest issue that prompted this review is last week is my app now says I do not have a supported device and I need to sync it with my app. I follow the setup procedure and it gives an error, cannot sync.
I thought for sure they would have fixed it after a year and a half of owning it, but new problems continue to pop up. How can Bosch sell a product that just plain doesnât work and continues to have problems? All I need out of my thermostat is set a schedule and connect remotely. After a year and half of continuous issues Iâve decided to write this review to let people know you will be constantly fighting this thing.
Update February 2021: My last update. It has been relatively stable for the past few months, still wont connect about 25% of the time when we are away from the house. Bought a Nest E thermostat installed it and have not had a single issue or hiccup in 4 months. The Bosch went in the trash, I can’t even bring myself to give it away.
