Excellent purchase. Totally worth the price for a full cutback exhaust!
This exhaust is awesome. It’s one of the very few aftermarket exhausts that are made to fit specifically on the Forester XT (installed on my 2006 Forester XT Limited). You can find other exhausts that might fit – but were originally made for the WRX/STI – and might have their own unique challenges or fitment issues. This exhaust mated up perfectly (with a few accessories – more on that below). I was able to install it by myself in about an hour! Here are a few things that stood out to me:Looks:The piping is beautiful. Welds are solid and look very well made. The tip is straight and doesn’t flare out obnoxiously. It’s also a 3″ exhaust, so you don’t get that huge “coffee can” look on a lot of aftermarket exhausts. There is a “flex” section near the downpipe end that allows you to maneuver it into place, and don’t have to worry about the pipes bending or breaking at the seams. It only sticks out an inch or so from the edge of the bumper, so its fairly subtle unless you’re looking for it.Sound:This is where the exhaust really shines. The exhaust note is deep and “rumbly” when idling. Exactly like a Subaru should be. When you get on the gas into the upper RPM’s it has a very lively growl, pretty aggressive and awesome sounding. I have a 4EAT so the transmission generally shifts pretty low in the RPM range – so unfortunately I don’t really get the aggressive sounds just driving around town. But with a manual transmission you can choose to shift higher in the RPM and get a little more grunt out of it. When cruising on the highway its very subdued. You can still hear a little low-end exhaust, but its much much quieter. It doesn’t really drone either – which is surprising for a big open SUV cabin. Usually exhausts will drone and reverberate through the cabin. If you’re sensitive to low frequencies, you might notice more than I do. But overall its very pleasant and mostly gets drowned out with any music playing. The sound is kind of perfect, you can get on it and get the aggressive growl, or you can let off and cruise and get the quietness similar to stock.A few notes:- Definitely pick up the Grimmspeed OEM downpipe to 3″ adapter [SKU # 77046]. This kit that will connect your 2.5″ OEM downpipe to the new 3″ aftermarket mid pipe in this exhaust. You could technically just connect the two without it… but don’t. You’ll get exhaust leaks. Pony up and get this – it made the installation super easy.- I would also recommend buying a new OEM donut gasket. This helps mate the OEM downpipe to the adapter mentioned above. Your car technically already comes with one from the factory, but it might be old and degrading. I bought a new one to be safe. [Subaru Part # 44022AA123]- I also recommend picking up a set of Kartboy extra long exhaust hangars. [Kartboy Part # KB-011-15mmXL]. I was kind of surprised since TurboXS claims that this exhaust has longer hangars made specifically for the FXT. But mine was way too close to the bumper with the stock hangers. It was 1/4″ or less to hitting the bumper plastic, and definitely would have started to melt over long or spirited drives. Again – you could technically do without these if you really want. But I recommend picking up a set of 2 so that your exhaust hangs about 1″ lower and prevents your bumper from melting.Do yourself a favor and pick up this exhaust!

This exhaust sounds good, dont get me wrong
I have a 2006 FXT with a catless downpipe. This exhaust sounds good, dont get me wrong, but with an aftermarket downpipe, please be aware as this will be MUCH louder than stock. I was expecting a bit of an increase in volume from what I’ve read, but even with a catless Downpipe, this is LOUD. Good sound though. Will definitely require extra extra long exhaust hangers in the rear unless you want to melt your bumper.

Looks and sounds great. I can still drive at 80 without nearly any sound but also can put my foot to the floor and it will give a nice loud rumble. If you have the stock down pipe you should buy a new 2.5″ gasket to go on, and I drilled bigger holes in the down pipe to use the bigger bolts they provide. Not a hard job to put this on but it will take at least an hour or 2.

    Sounds awesome and looks excellent
Excellent exhaust system. Sounds great without a deep drone on the highway. I installed this on my NA 2008 Forester Sports 2.5. It’s meant for a turbo (XT) model but with a slight modification to the exhaust manifold mid-pipe this worked out great.
