The ASUS Prime AP201 is a stellar compact micro-ATX case that offers a fantastic combination of ease of building and excellent value. As someone who has had the pleasure of working with it, I can confidently say it’s a gem in the realm of PC cases.
Firstly, let’s talk about its design. The ASUS Prime AP201 boasts a sleek and modern exterior that will complement any setup. Its compact size makes it perfect for those looking to save space without compromising on performance. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or a newcomer to PC building, you’ll appreciate the thoughtful layout of this case. It’s incredibly easy to work with, thanks to its tool-less design and ample cable management options. The interior is spacious enough to accommodate most micro-ATX motherboards and high-end graphics cards, ensuring that you can build a powerful system without feeling cramped.
One of the standout features of the ASUS Prime AP201 is its excellent airflow design. Despite its small size, this case provides ample airflow to keep your components cool under load. The strategically placed vents and fan mounts ensure efficient cooling without excessive noise. Additionally, the dust filters help keep your system clean and running smoothly for longer periods.
In terms of value, the ASUS Prime AP201 punches well above its weight. Considering its build quality, features, and performance, it offers incredible value for money compared to other cases in its class. Whether you’re on a tight budget or simply looking for a great deal, this case delivers in spades.
Overall, the ASUS Prime AP201 is a standout choice for anyone in need of a compact micro-ATX case that’s easy to build in and offers excellent value. Best Micro ATX case for under $100
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
For: MicroATX builders seeking a stylish and spacious case, fans of minimalist aesthetics, those prioritizing airflow
Against: Limited cable management options, awkward disk drive installation, tight PSU space
Design and Build Quality: 4.5 out of 5 stars
The Prime AP201 punches above its weight in the design department. Its sleek, tempered glass panel and minimalist aesthetic blend seamlessly into any setup. The build quality is solid, with a sturdy steel frame and high-quality materials. It might be compact, but it feels surprisingly hefty and well-constructed.
Space and Compatibility: 4 out of 5 stars
Despite its 33-liter footprint, the AP201 manages to pack in impressive space for a MicroATX build. It supports ATX power supplies, long graphics cards, and even 360mm AIO coolers, making it surprisingly versatile for its size. However, be warned: cable management can be a bit tricky due to limited routing options behind the motherboard tray.
Cooling: 5 out of 5 stars
Airflow is king in the AP201. Its perforated mesh front panel and strategically placed fan mounts ensure ample air circulation. It comes with one pre-installed 120mm rear fan, but there’s plenty of room for adding additional fans or AIO coolers for truly exceptional cooling performance.
Ease of Use: 4 out of 5 stars
The tool-less side panels are a breeze to remove and reinstall, making access to your components easy. However, the disk drive installation, while possible, can be a bit awkward due to limited space. The tight PSU compartment might also require careful cable management to avoid obstructing airflow.
Value: 4 out 25 stars
The AP201 offers a lot of bang for your buck. Its stylish design, spacious interior, and excellent cooling potential make it a compelling choice for MicroATX builders. However, the cable management challenges and awkward disk drive installation hold it back from a perfect score in the value department.
Things to Consider:
Limited Cable Management: Routing space behind the motherboard tray is limited, requiring careful planning and potentially creative solutions.
Awkward Disk Drive Installation: Installing 2.5″ or 3.5″ drives can be a bit cramped and require specific mounting brackets.
Tight PSU Space: Ensure your PSU cables are flexible and well-managed to avoid obstructing airflow.
Final Verdict:
The ASUS Prime AP201 is a fantastic choice for MicroATX builders who prioritize style, airflow, and spaciousness. Its compact design packs a surprising punch, and its minimalist aesthetics will fit seamlessly into any setup. However, be prepared to tackle some cable management challenges and potentially invest in additional fan mounts or brackets for optimal performance. For those willing to put in a bit of extra effort, the AP201 rewards with a cool, stylish, and surprisingly versatile MicroATX build experience.
Note:
This review is based on my research and analysis of the ASUS Prime AP201. Your experience may vary depending on your specific components and configurations.
Feel free to adapt and personalize this review to your own experience and preferences. You can add specific details about your build, cable management solutions, or comparisons with other MicroATX cases.

Excellent mATX Case
TLDR: Small case that’s easy to build in with a lot of nice design decisions
None of the side panels have screws. They pop on and off with a little a small effort so they’re easy to remove while installing your components and don’t have any small pieces that you risk losing.
The front I/O connectors and buttons are all in a block that’s mounted to the frame. The front panel has holes cut for these connectors. That makes it so you can take the front panel off without pulling the wiring for the front panel I/O.
The case can fit a standard ATX PSU and has the PSU sit so it pulls in air from the inside of the case and exhausts through the top of the case. It’s easy to get the PSU into place and there’s a piece of metal to “hide” the PSU behind so you don’t see it or the cables through the mesh.
I like having intake fans under the GPU. It keeps the GPU nice and cool while gaming. There’s a spot on the back where I’d add another intake for the CPU if my CPU (Ryzen 5600) ran hot enough to need it.
There’s enough room before the PSU for some cable management but I wish there was just a little bit more space between the motherboard mounts and the back panel. I had some trouble getting connectors for fan splitters and extenders to fit. My motherboard only has 2 fan headers so splitters are a must but the cables just aren’t long enough to get the connectors to the bigger space past the motherboard near the front of the case.

Please note that this case review is NOT for the tempered glass edition, be sure to verify which version you are getting.
This is probably the best mATX case right now, the perforated panels provide great airflow and are easy to remove if you like to tinker or you make hardware changes a lot like I do. There is a lot of internal space for custom builds and it is generally easy to work in, I had no issues installing parts and managing cables.
The few negatives I noticed are: 1 included exhaust fan is 3-pin and feel that the front panel section space can be better used.

Materiales:

Slightly weird setup given the placement of the PSU, but it has a uniquely short height dimension that makes it fit perfectly in my shelving unit. The case is solid, and the pop off mesh siding is super convenient. Easy build and reasonable for cable management. Good price point, would buy again, but I fear i may not need a case again for a long time.
