    I highly recommend this blower
I love this blower. The variable speed is so nice. It allowed me to blow off my patio without scaring my pets! This is the first blower I’ve owned that was powerful enough to remove accumulated leaves on the sidewalk between my house & a flower bed. Usually I would have to rake the large parts, then use a blower to finish up. Also, with the old blower and its 18v ni-cad batteries, it took 4-5 batteries to clean off all of my drives & sidewalks. With this blower, it took a single battery & there was still a green indicator left when I finished. I can’t wait to use it with my universal gutter/roof cleaner!Overall, I found it to be comparable in power to my electric Leaf Hog. I have no real way to measure performance, but I was impressed with it’s performance, particularly since it’s so small & lightweight. I have a gas powered blower, the huge electric Leaf Hog & the 18v B&D. This outperformed all of them based on convenience & ease of use. No running power cords, no buying & mixing gas & oil and no frequent trips to the chargers to get more batteries! I won’t hesitate to climb on the roof with this one. Its light weight and the maneuverability of its compact size make this one a much safer choice. Thank you B&D. You hit the mark with this one!

    Best cordless B&D yet.
First time Amazon review. Three years ago I decided to replace most of my gas operated lawn equipment with cordless/battery operated equipment. I tried some of the 18V stuff and wasn’t happy with it so I took it back and bought the B&D 24V string trimmer and hedge clipper. I was impressed as they were almost as good as the gas and a lot more convenient and easier to start. So I searched for a 24V blower that would be more powerful than the 18V and I would have the convenience of another battery to swap when needed. Unfortunately I discovered there were none in the B&D lineup so I settled for a 18V. I quickly needed to add a second battery and a quick charger because the battery life was very short and I usually ended up having to change the battery even though I ran it until the very last, weak, stream of air. I liked the fact that it was very convenient and easy to use so I stuck with it even though I really wanted to replace it with a longer lasting and maybe more powerful blower.I recently discovered the 40V Lithium unit and was hesitant to spend the money at first but finally decided to order one. Boy am I glad that I did. Although it is not greatly more powerful it is noticeably more. BUT, it lasts for the entire cleanup on all my walks, driveways, porch and decks, and still has some battery left. And, that’s on full power. It does have a selector dial to lower the force and save the battery but so far it has not been necessary to reduce the power. It also have a scraper on the end to unstick dirt, leaves and grass from the walks. It seems perfect for my cleanup work. Another great feature is the battery which re-charges in about an hour and unlike the 18V NiCad is fully powerful right up until it needs recharge (no more trying to finish with a very low air stream. Don’t buy for a leaf blower, it is a hard surface sweeper. I have a smaller lot so your experience may vary from mine.

After 7 years, it’s now my Go-To Sweeper
Update in November 2024 to Original January 2018 ReviewWhen I wrote the first version of this review in January 2018 I was just testing this sweeper out as part of a number of B&D battery-powered garden tools (lawn mower, string mower, chain saw and hedge shears) that I purchased in 2015 to eliminate the hassle of dealing a gas-powered appliances. At the time I had two Echo gas blowers that worked like a champ and were my go-to blowers for yard cleanup (and I still have them). But the Echo is a little heavy for use in some applications such as up on the roof to blow leaves from roof valleys. They also require the hassle of gas, which also requires that they be stored outside in my garden shed. For blowing leaves off the roof in 2018 I’d was using a Toro 7-amp electric blower that is real compact and light weight and quite powerful (though not up to the Echo gas unit). The Toro worked great for blowing out the roof valleys, but required that I string 100 feet of extension cord around on the roof…which was a safety hazard that I didn’t like.Since, in 2018, I already had a set of B&D 40V appliances (lawn mower, edger, chain saw) and batteries, I thought I’d see if the B&D 40V “sweeper” could be useful, particularly for the roof job. The reviews were not encouraging, generally pointing to a lack of power.Wow, what a difference seven years makes! The B&D sweepers are now my go-to sweepers (I have two of them…one at Ranch and one at home) and I haven’t used the Echo gas units in years…they probably wouldn’t start now. The BIG advantage of the battery-powered units is that they’re kept handy in the house where they are quick to grab and use. The Echo gas units are off in garden sheds and would require fueling and pull-rope starting…not one of my favorite tasks.I use my B&D 40V LSW36Bs for a wide variety of light-blowing tasks like blowing leaves and grass clippings from my front porch, terraces, and driveways, blowing out the valleys on the roof, and blowing out my tractor and Gator cabs and trailer bed at the Ranch. The B&D unit is definitely slower at blowing than using the Echo, but in terms of total time spent (including fueling and starting), it gets the total job done quicker with less hassle. Like I said, I haven’t used the Echos in years now. For our long driveway at the ranch, the gardener uses a large back-pack-mounted gas unit with huge power, but periodically for a quick cleanup I do the drive with the B&D. It gets the job done, just takes a bit longer…but it’s real convenient and no hassle. As a word about the technical aspects of the B&D sweeper, I always use it at the max-power #6 setting, never anything else, and put its 2.0 Ah 40V battery on the charger when I finish a big job or bunch of small jobs. I’ve never replaced the batteries, and I’ve never needed to stop a job to recharge the battery. However, I do have another 2.5 Ah 40V battery which I devote to the lawn mower & string mower if I ever need a backup for the sweeper. BTW…those two are also great appliances, still in weekly use since purchase in 2015.

I hesitated to buy this because of some of the negative reviews on battery life , no it’s not a powerful as a plug in but for quick light jobs it is great. I used mine high power for the front yard 25 minutes job done battery still going .super light nice to not drag a cord or waste fuel

Used for clearing deck, sidewalk, garage floor. Wish motor was more powerful, but did the job for which it was purchased.
