Excellent Sound
My very old car had a premium sound system with amp from the factory and always sounded great until the speaker cones separated. I realized that a $30-80 pair of aftermarket speakers would likely be slightly better than most regular car speakers, $80-150 would likely be slightly better than premium factory speakers, and over $150 would be higher end speakers requiring a better head unit and sub. These Polks are lower cost but fit in the upper middle category.
I first just screwed a couple of these Polks in and the highs sounded very clear, but the mid was muddy and I believed I would need to add a subwoofer because the sound had very little base. I didnât expect perfection, but they were just slightly better than regular plain factory speakers and not as good as the original factory premium Infinity Gold speakers that came with my car.
I had read about putting in sound deadening material and making sure the speakers were sealed air tight. After buying and very minimally applying some of this material around and behind the speakers, the muddy midrange sound was mostly gone and the base was significantly better. I actually had to turn down the bass on my receiver. I spent more on the sound deadening Siless 80mm material & foam tape than I did on one pair of speakers and ended up only using 20% of it. It also took a lot of time but was all well worth it.
Sound is now better than the premium sound that came from the original premium factory speakers and much like Polks I have in the house. I do have to adjust the receiver treble/bass and volume just right for the type of music Iâm playing because my receiver wonât output anywhere near as well. If I do though, these Polks produce better sound than my Bluetooth earbuds, the bass vibrates, and I feel like a teenager that just got a new car stereo.

Underpowered by a cheap Pyle PLMRMP3B until a get a better amp, itâs literally like 20-30w RMS but maxed out, but these sound good enough at 60mph without clipping. Paired with DS18 pods just for a cheap audio add-on at the end of summer.

Youll have to buy the 15.00 5.25″-6.5″ adapters. 100 watts rms 300 peak. But marine grade and 35hz on the low end cant believe how much bass these drivers put out worth every penny

Look No Further for Your Motorcycle
I buy a lot of items on Amazon but I rarely take the time to write a review. I had to take the time to give feedback on these Polk 6.5″ speakers. I spent 5 times the amount on name brand high end 6.5″ speakers for my Harley Road Glide thinking I would get the best sound possible. Boy was I wrong. I ended up having nothing but problems. They didn’t fit and I had to trim to make it somewhat work. Once I got them to fit, the sound was not clear and had crackling. Thinking mainly cause it didn’t sit right and it was rubbing on the fairing. I decided to return it and take a chance with these inexpensive Polk audio’s. Polk has generally been a reliable name for many years and they live up to them. Install was a breeze and they fit in the fairings without any modifications needed. The sound is just amazing and for $60 you can’t beat it! If you own a harley and need some 6.5″ speakers do not hesitate to buy these.

Exact replacement for Sony XSMP1621 6 1/2-Inch coaxial 2-way Marine Speaker
These are an exact replacement for Sony XSMP1621 6 1/2-Inch coaxial 2-way Marine Speaker which were an exact replacement for the older Sony XS-MP61 speakers. By exact replacement I mean the 4 hole and 3 hole patterns are identical and the connectors are identical as well. I could not find this information anywhere and the new Sony speakers are just junk. The cones do not last at all so do yourself a favor and get these!
Power handling is similar and the sounds reproduction is as well with the exception that these have more clarity and range especially on the high end. The base is pretty much the same, OK but it is a 6.5″ speaker so you can’t expect it to be great like having a sub.

Upgrade to these Polk speakers has improved the sound system quality by 10x on my RV. Bass is great for such small speakers and clarity is excellent. Highly recommend these bad boys!
