Solid performer, cuts most small limbs like butter, long battery life
Very impressed by this well built, lightweight and powerful 12″ chainsaw. Needed to clear several small trees and large shrubs and break them all down into fire logs and debris. This chainsaw tackled all the types of wood effortlessly, with girths of from one inch to a maximum of 6-7 inch trunks and limbs. The battery lasted from a full charge throughout three days working, it only needed charging after all was said and done. Easy to use, well balanced, self lubricating with a built-in chain oil reservoir, and easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble the chain and transport after use. Also has a dial to easily tighten and loosen the chain as necessary. And the safety brake between the handle area and chainsaw itself adds another level of protection to avoid accidents. Highly recommend this impressive chainsaw, it does the job and keeps on going.

Lightweight, Powerful, Inexpensive – You get all 3.
I have Skil’s 16 inch 40v saw and like it so much, I started buying some of Skil’s 20v tools. Since I now have a pile of 20v batteries, I decided I might as well get a saw that uses them. I absolutely love this saw. It’s very lightweight, yet has excellent power. I started with a B&D 20v saw and that served me well for a long time, but this Skil saw is in a different league with MUCH higher chain speed. This thing can cut 4-6 inch branches almost as fast as a gas saw. For bigger stuff, I’ll pull out the 40v saw, but I suspect that if you aren’t in a hurry, this 20v saw will get through anything the bar is big enough to handle. If you are cutting 6 inch+ logs/branches, you’ll probably want additional batteries. For smaller stuff, the 4 amp battery lasts a long time. The whole tool with battery and charger was less expensive than what what some brands charge for just a battery or bare tool.

Perfect for personal yard use
Great to use with tons of power for handling lots and lots of tree branches in my yard. My only comment is the tricky nature of reattaching the chain on the saw blade– as a new user of chainsaws, it took a while to line things up correctly the first time. Of course, remember to remove the battery before making any adjustments to the chain! Did I forget to mention that I’m a mature aged woman? If I can handle this, you should be able– saved a lot of money in the first year alone. I’m ordering replacement chains and chainsaw lubricating oil in advance spring since I know I’ll be using my chainsaw a lot.

Great little saw! Easy and powerful (WITH UPDATE!)
So the only downside I can see is the battery. You can probably only do about 30-45 minutes of work with this. I trimmed a bunch of branches, cut 4-6 inch logs, and took down 2 trees – one of which was about 11-12 inches in diameter.Do I wish this thing had a bit more battery life? Sure. I also wish it was a 14 inch saw instead of 12. But I can also replace the bar and chain with another bar and chain from skill since they have them with the same chain tightening system on some of their other saws. I probably wouldnât do much bigger than 14 inches though.UPDATE:Had another tree fall partially fall down in our yard. This little saw took that thing apart in a few minutes. Then the took down the rest of the tree (20 inches in diameter shortest distance by 31 longest distance – an oval tree stump). Yes it was a pain in the butt and I had to use some wedges to make sure the saw wouldnât get stuck under the weight, but thatâs a typical thing youâd do anyway when felling a tree.I did end up losing a tooth of the blade in the tree which sometimes happens. The blade is getting a touch full but thatâs to be expected after several large trees cut down and parted out. I ended up putting a 14 inch Oregon bar on this as well which fits just fine. I wouldnât go over 16 inches though, especially on hard wood.Either way, this is possible the best purchase Iâve made ever. Itâs so easy and awesome to use and itâs got the torque to cut down some pretty thick and massive trees. I cut down and cut apart several 30-40 feet tall trees with thick bases. Would it have been easier with a pro or pro-lite gas chainsaw? Probably. But at 3-4 times the cost at the very least.

Just In Time !!
I like the fact that it really came thru and worked like a CHAMP ! Had a storm last week, trees down blocking driveway, streets blocked by trees , my daughter gets the saw out starts cutting branches and trees, she was amazed at how easy it was to operate and the cutting capability. Really nice saw and for the price canât go wrong, oh yes I had a gas saw that day ended up using the Skil to finish the job , single charge got wow to many cuts to count. Yes Iâm buying another pair!!! Thanks

Lite Weight
I have 2 gas powered saws. One medium and one large 24″ bar. The large one is new. I needed a larger saw for some trees that Helena blew over. At 65 I was not looking forward to limbing them with either of the saws I have. Getting a lite gas powered saw is not easy, and it is expensive. So I gave it a try. Glad I did. It is the perfect tool for limbing and small jobs. It cuts even hardwood up to 6″ with little effort. I did upgrade the chain which helped also. So lite you can use it with one hand if need be. The battery also lasted longer than expected. Does not leak oil when not in use that I can see. Great addition. Was able to limb 2 20″ pines with alot less effort and back strain. For the money I see it as a great value.

Never again
————-SKIL———–Never again! The 12 inch chain saw, is definitely junk, I have had many chainsaws. This one rates on the bottom. The thing slings oil and it will almost empty a tank of oil over night. So I have decided, no more oil it will be used until it destroys itself. then thrown away— customer service more or less said “live with it” I had a choice it would be rated a zero
