    Good mower for smaller yard
I wanted to avoid the problems and hassle of a gas powered mower and came across this brand This has been a really good mower since I had it for a couple of months now.It is not self propelling but is light enough to pick up and change angles if you are in a tight corner. More on the light weight, I can easily pick it up with one hand, the handle is really convenient on the main body since I don’t have a nice ramp coming from my shed (yet). It was pretty easy to assemble, other than the metal handle bars have circles at the bottom with “teeth” you need to line up to set the angle / height that works best for you. At first one side tightened where the teeth locked together perfectly and the other side had a gap even though I tightened it as much as I could. You will know what I mean when you get it, but just make sure you tighten each side equally a little bit at a time. Anyways it was pretty easy, you just screw on the handle basically and then attach the collection bag to the back.I will say I am kind of dumb and had to ask for a return but it was my own failure to read directions. I used to have gas mowers growing up and only recently got a new house with a yard. I remember that with gas mowers you pull in the lever on the handle and after that you pull the starter cord. With these it is the opposite, you push in the button and then pull in the lever and it starts right up. Sun Joe was very nice and sent me a replacement, although I guess it would have been nice for the first person to call me out on my mistake and troubleshoot my problem a bit better, but after I returned the second mower it has worked perfectly ever since. The batteries stay charged for a little over an hour if I had to guess, which is plenty of time to mow my yard which is about 1/4 – 1/3rd an acre if the batteries are fully charged. It is nice these companies are coming out with battery systems that work across multiple products, I only have this mower as a battery powered device from them but I am interested in looking at leaf blowers or something else from them in the future.

    Really Impressed
Decided to take a shot on an electric mower after my old gas mower finally kicked the bucket, as this model was 33% off and well-reviewed. Really glad I did!My major concern was battery life, as I have both a front lawn and a rather large back one. I was half-expecting to have to recharge batteries between sides, which I could have lived with. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised to be able to do both sides on one charge. We’ll see if that holds true down the road as the batteries get used, but right now I can do the whole house at a decent walking speed.Everything else has either been as good as my old mower, or a straight-up upgrade. No more oil or gas, no smoke belching from the mower, quieter, makes a good cut, and it’s comparatively lighter and more maneuverable. Long and/or wet grass WILL drain the mower faster, so you do have to be a bit more proactive with an electric model rather than just mowing whenever. Both the charging station and batteries have status lights that make it easy to prevent any wasted time on the dock.If you’re looking for a good electric mower for personal use, I can definitely recommend this one. Assembly and use are both incredibly simple. Obviously it’s not well-suited for doing a bunch of lawns in one go or for huge estates, but otherwise, big thumbs up.

Great mower with a couple minor problems
This is my second battery lawnmower and I’m happy to continue using battery. The main reason I like battery is the easy off and on of machine, particularly with my new lawn. There are hidden rocks, hidden holes, and lots of branches to stop for. It is nice to be able to release the bar to turn off and even better to not have to dislocate a shoulder everytime to turn it back on. My previous battery mower was not able to stand up to the bigger, more rough terrain yard I moved to. The thing that sold me on this brand mower was I have a Snow Joe and the batteries can work on both. One set isn’t enough to cover my size yard (I’m guessing I use it on around half an acre) and having the Snow Joe’s battery makes it possible.Problems: There are two handles to connect. On the lower handle there are plasticky/rubber pieces on the ends. The directions didn’t say whether to leave them, but I assumed they were to be left on. I got 3/4 of the way through my lawn (a lot of tilting back to get over holes and to manuever) and I pushed down on the bar system the bars popped out of the handle are by way of the plasticky things breaking and sliding around. I removed the plasticky things and just tightened it on with metal on metal and it worked fine. The pieces used to screw on the upper handle seem like mechanism that you are supposed to snap down, but I don’t see the reasoning for it latching, I just tightened them on without worrying about flipping them. There is a safety key, to put in the battery compartment, but I have been unable to deduce how it works or why it is there. I’m guessing it is to be removed so no one can start it without it, but I would see that more as a security than safety. In slides into a slot in the battery compartment, but it doesn’t attach to anything to make it pop out if something happens.Overall it is a good mower and doesn’t have to be gassed up (which is definitely a plus when I have a gas riding mower). Not overly heavy and easy to operate.

    Simple and Efficient
The best part about this mower is how simple it is to just charge up and go. The 48 Volt mower has plenty of power and lasts a good amount of time. I have enough power to mow about a 1/4 acre and it’s not all nice and level. It takes about an hour as I have a front and back section, trees, fence, etc. Be careful of mowing to close, start at a high level and work your way down on the blade height. The mower is light but sturdy and doesn’t wear you out like a gas mower with the engine and liquid weight added. I can mow the lawn in less time too which is nice.

After coming from a gas mower, this thing is very quiet and very light. Cuts very well. Too early to tell regarding durability and blade life, but first impressions are good.

Would not work straight out of the box! SunJoe customer service was good to deal with but disappointed a brand new unit would not work. Replacement was sent. Had to dispose of the original unit.

The mower itself, if it worked properly, would be just fine. I bought a discounted one from the Amazon Warehouse, which said it had slight or moderate marring on the back. When it arrived, the battery case is broken, there’s a broken screw from somewhere that was floating around the bag, and the mower constantly shuts off. Its not at the end of its life (as this happens with thousands of older models at the end of their life) but something is wrong with the trigger system. As I run the mower, you can feel the handle triggers suddenly “let go” like a circuit breaker shutting off. I was short $30.00 from buying new. I bought this one at a discount as it only had supposed moderate markings, as listed by Amazon. I don’t care what it looks like, as long as it works. This does not work properly though and the damage exceeded what Amazon stated. Plus the broken battery casing which was not listed, means you run the risk of possibly shorting out your machine and damaging your batteries. Maybe possible person risk if there is shock risk, and if the battery casing gets wet. I have to have a mower while I save for a better one, so I can’t return it and be without. This is the second discount product I have bought and the second time the discounted product did not work. The first product was a heater and it simply did not work at all. When it does stay running for a while, and sometimes it does let me do the whole yard, it is a great mower! A little small, but it does the work and cuts nicely. Extremely light! It feels like a kids toy for being so light but is a great mower.
