Quiet, Powerful and Duel Fuel … what’s not to love?
This hard-to-find WEN DF500ix is my third generator and definitely my favorite. I have a 9-year-old open frame Predator 4000 that had only been started for maintenance until Hurricane Helene. During the storm it worked flawlessly but was annoyingly loud. After the storm, I started prepping for the next power outage and locked it on the DF500ix after hours of research. But, it was never in stock even on the WEN site. While waiting for the DF500ix to become available, I stumbled upon a brand-new WEN 3600 Watt “suitcase” inverter generator for a steal. The DF500ix has push-button start, 240v output, duel fuel and toolless propane connect. Honestly, I donât NEED any of those features but love that the DF500ix has them. The wheels and collapsing handle are a back saver. The wheels are secured with a bolt (10mm socket) into what appears to be a single rod running the length of the back of the generator. From what I can see, the wheels are sturdy, but if they were to fail, they can be easily replaced. The small data display is helpful as you don’t need to add an additional hour meter. The display shows output volts, hertz, session run time and total run time. It would have been interesting to have an RPM meter also.WEN customer service let me know that a magnetic oil dipstick is not available since the DF500ix “utilizes 1/4 turn style with metal rod dip stick.” With that in mind, after swapping out the OEM sparkplug with an NGK, I went overboard on the break-in with variable load – 1, 2, and 5-hour oil changes. Full-synthetic oil for 2nd and 3rd oil changes. As noted by another reviewer, WEN does not provide a legend for the 4-in-1 dial. This is a fail, and makes first operation unnecessarily confusing. In comparison, the WEN 3600 has a description next to each symbol on the dial. Finally, while the DF500ix is quiet, I don’t agree that it is “extremely quiet” as the product description says. Subjectively, I’d rank the Predator 5000 Super Quiet inverter generators as extremely quiet, but I don’t have any objective dB measurements. Of my three generators, the DF500ix is the quietest–it has a low rumble that is more agreeable than a higher-pitched sound.

Excellent generator in class
This generator is super quiet, easy to run and arrived on-time with no issues. I’m very impressed. This is my first Wen generator and the build quality and performance is great. I’ve done some testing running a single 15k AC unit on a trailer (likely would run two if both had soft starts). I’ve also tested it with my whole home generlink transfer switch and it was able to run everything in my home, minus the ac units and hot tub. The generator is small and light enough to be portable, but powerful enough to run large loads. I’m very happy with it and highly recommend!

Great inverter!
This wen inverter generator is awesome. Perfect for boondocking our camper and quiet too! Have a normal conversation while standing beside the unit. Push button start is a great feature as wel as the fuel shut off to prevent the carb from gumming up after sitting for long periods. It ran both my camper ac units, a coleman 15k btu and 13,500 btu. Great purchase and upgrade to keep sensitive electronics safe.

Poor documention and cheap wheels
All in all the generator runs fine. The documentation is very poor. No where in documents does it tell you what these symbols are. I was able to figure it out but others will have issues. I saw on other models they have words instead of symbols. In case anyone wants to know what the symbols are. Going from top then clockwise:Engine off, fuel off, run, chokeAfter 8 hour break in upate:I don’t think the wheels are going to last. I used this over 4 days. I wheeled it from garage to backyard all on level concrete garage and side walk. No grass or dirt. The wheels look shot and I’m trying to figure out how to get over grass to backyard shed.On the plus side I’m still on first 20 pound propane tank and its pretty quiet. Noise is between AC and lawnmower. I loaded with refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven and about 2 rooms of lights and TVs using plugged into generator interlock inlet to house.

great generator hope they get them back in stock.
dumped the oil in, connected the battery super easy.loaded self adjusting idle, push button start, pole starts in one pole, not overly noisy.iâve only use this generator for 5 hours but so far itâs been great. Puts out at least 3.3 kWh.on the 240 outlet.it was a great price and so far so good.

Probably great. If they didn’t get smashed
I purchased a set of them and the parallel cable. Judging by the fact the case was popped apart on one. And the poorly running engine which I later found out leaked fluid. I would say they rolled around in a truck, or got dropped. The boxes didn’t look terribly bad, but not good. Neither arrived in working condition. WEN has been a good brand, long lasting, they probably just need a little more reinforcement in the boxes and better padding. This was my first try with inverter generators. So far Amazon has refunded one says they will refund the other and will not pay for disposal fees. (Understandable but still frustrating).

Dual fuel and has 230 volt receptacle
Purchased this generator in Mid September 2024. Arrived early AM and no damage. Checked to make sure everything was their, All good. Add the oil and plugged in the battery. I have only run it on Propane. After a few cranks to get the fuel to the engine it started right up. Very quiet running. We took it camping that weekend and it ran flawlessly for 10hrs on it now. Need to change the original oil due to break in time.Would I buy it again, YES for sure. It seems well built, good warranty. I like how the battery connects. Just unplug the battery from the generator and because it has the same connector as a battery Maintainer, no wires to add. Just plugs directly to a maintainer. Not to heavy for what it is. It is also one of the few quiet inverter generators that has the 230volt plug for 50 amp. Most don’t have that so you could use it for your house and 230volt appliances.Nice little all around machine.
