More rugged than I need.
The 2-Bike rack is good. It’s bigger and more rugged than we need, but it was less expensive than a less rugged rack. We were able to carry two bikes to a trail. It is a pain to fasten 3 safety straps to each bike. I cut the straps shorter so the tails wouldn’t flap in the wind.It requires a 24mm wrench to put it on the trailer hitch. That requirement offers some protection from someone stealing the rack. None of the pieces of the rack lock on.I don’t need a frame bracket on my step-through e-bike. The rack will adjust to the height of a short horizontal section on my bike.

Use reinforcement
Don’t load this with heavy e-bikes. Over time, the brackets become bent, it is impossible to tighten them enough and the outer metal starts to bend. In the third picture, they used to be straight across, now you can see how far they dip down on each side. This unit was kind of an expensive way to find out what we really want from a bike rack and this is not it. Total of both bikes is about 150 lbs, it says 200 lb capacity…We did a long road trip with our bikes loaded (~1400 miles). VERY IMPORTANT to tighten the bolt all the way into your vehicle. I left it a little loose, to get the locking pin in and there was too much vibration. I think this is why the lower mounts bent in a little bit and the hooks came loose as the bikes lowered down. I was glad that I tied the tops of the bikes up, or the back one may have tried to roll out.Yes, this was a little difficult to put together, it comes with real nuts and bolts, requiring some tools to build. That’s what contributes to it being sturdy. Wasn’t too hard to figure out. This is a versatile unit, able to fold it up, or down to open the lift gate once the bikes are unloaded. That said, the adjustment clamps never really seem to be tight and they’re lined with plastic. I would probably use a thicker gage metal, because that is what seems to be bent from the vibrations I mentioned earlier and maybe just a thin lining of plastic, so metal tightens against metal. I think the plastic is to prevent scratching. We will continue to use this rack around town, even though it’s bent, it seems sturdy enough to hold on with the extra tying at the top and secured velcro straps at the bottom.I would urge you to tie in at the top, no matter what. It’s a great insurance policy. If anyone wants recommended design improvements on this, I’d love to discuss, lol! :-)Overall, it’s doing the job without much problem. Probably takes the 2 of us about 5 minutes to load both bikes on and reinforce. Maybe about 5 more to mount the rack if it is not already mounted to the truck.Follow up, after a few more uses and seeing some other units around: I would be looking for something lighter and easier to load. Something with a higher capacity also.

Awesome rack
This is one tough rack. We’ve previously purchased another rack, which proved very flimsy for our mountain bikes. It can carry up to four bikes, although we mostly use only two. We often take our bikes on some very rough, rocky unpaved roads and our bikes have not budged. This is a heavy duty bike rack and quite heavy, but that is what we wanted because prior racks have not been up to snuff and straps have slipped and our bikes rattled and we had to pull over to readjust. Like I said, this rack is heavy duty, but your bike will stay on the rack. Good bikes are not cheap, we wanted to protect them and not have them fall off or rattle around. This rack will most definitely keep them safe.

Solid product for the price
I generally like this bike rack. I gave it 5 stars because the product is solid and assembly was straightforward for my skill level. Also the price, compared to similar products with less features, was pretty good. It could securely hold my two bicycles with no issues. However, there are a few things that I noticed. There are certain places where the weld only had one contact point. Two or three points would have been better. But from what I can tell, it will still hold up well. I will probably add a few weld points myself so it can last longer. The included clamp straps will work, but I recommend getting more secure ratchet straps.

This bike rake is real sturdy. I like the tilt feature to help loading and unloading.

Cheap rack with an overstated weight limit – DO NOT BUY THIS RACK
Had this rack less than a month. Loaded it with two bikes both well under the 200lb weight limit and had three successful trips – one was to a state park about an hour away without any problem.Today, loaded two bikes and one of the bottom wheel brackets literally bent down and allowed the bike to drop below the hook on the vertical bar…bike was still held on to the rack with the tire straps and then flipped over and drug the ground. The wheel bracket itself didn’t break and the nut was still clamped tight. It was the INSIDE of the tightening mechanism that collapsed. The bottom wheel brackets appear “sturdy” but they are actually clamped to the horizontal bottom bars with cheap plastic inserts that cause the entire wheel bracket to give out even though the nut is tight. Why in the world would you design something meant to support up to 200lbs with plastic?!All in all, a cheap design. Appears sturdy at first but the way a bike can suddenly drop sitting in the rack and flip over (or literally off) makes the top clamp useless. What a crappy design…regret the purchase, and now my new bike needs a few repairs after dragging behind my truck. Thank goodness I wasn’t flying down the interstate with my bike coming off the rack.Don’t waste your money…treat your bike like the investment it is and get a rack that won’t break under normal use.

I’ve been searching for a good bike rack for weeks. I needed a 200lbs capacity rack for 2 88lbs e-bikes. I also needed a rack that tilt so I can open my truck tailgate without having to remove the rack. I went to Thule store and they asked me 1200$ for a rack that can support 140lbs. Then I found this rack. I ordered it and received within 24 hrs. I read a lot of reviews before I pressed “buy now”. A lot of people say it’s har to put together. I tend to agree with that statement. If you are the manual type of person, you will figure it out without difficulties. If not, you may need some help because the pictures in the instructions are not intuitive. Adding some colors and bigger pictures would help. You will notice some wobbling after you finished fixing the brackets. I used extra washers between the frame and the brackets which makes it perfect. The rack is strong. I guess it can support more than 200lbs. I had 2 bikes on it (approx 50lbs total for both) and I was able to step and jump on it and it didn’t budge at all. I’m 210lbs. It is very sturdy for sure. While I was driving, I could watch the rack with my Ford Co-pilot 360 camera. It didn’t budge, even while driving over speed bumps. The components and finish are very good quality for the price! Yes Thule racks look nicer. But they can’t support 200lbs+ and they cost 4 times more… I’m not sure how the plastic knobs will react during cold winters in Canada though. We’ll see. The velcro straps to tie down the tires are not the best choice. Velcro doesn’t last long when you use it often. I ordered four 1″ x 2′ rachet straps which I will use to tie down my 4.8″ wide fat tires. The hooks are doing their job of retaining the bikes. I wish they had an anti-theft lock. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my choice. You can buy this rack with confidence.

This holds my bikes solid. Construction is solid and inspires confidence as I have driven with it in rain storms, long highway trips, off road, harsh trails and it holds the bikes stable with 0 issues. Be aware the finish powdercoating is pretty poor. Several moving parts have oxidation and surface rusting where the parts rub on eachother. Doesn’t affect performance. I just coated the parts that rub with light grease. The hitch section is solid, no shifting or banging even on harshest roads. As for the velcrow straps, throw those away immediately, mine fell off in the lightest rain on the highway. Thank God the carrier holds the bikes nice and sturdy without them. They are a second line of defense. I ordered some better ones on amazon and I give the carrier seller credit. I told them and they said because they do not have better ones they will just credit me the cost of the ones I buy. Excellent product and excellent service. Buy this!!! Do not buy the weaker cheaper ones. This is awesome. Use it every week.

After just a few days of use my unit started having rust spots mainly at the welding points, my opinion is that the paint is very thin and doesn’t saturate the welds points properly. Anyway I took the unit apart and repainted with a quality anti rust lacker.Beyond this the unit is well designed and built sturdy except for the tightening bushings made out of plastic instead of rubber. Ok for the price I guess.

I’m not a professional biker and I have never had a bike rack before but I hate wasting my money so I looked at several racks before I bought this one. Reviews were good and the worst complaints seemed to be the assembly instructions. I have to agree with the instructions, they were poor but I figured it out and I’m quite happy with the results. The whole unit is built very sturdy I can’t see this bending easily and my bikes were held tightly. The bikes never moved! I recommend this for anyone wanting a good quality unit without paying for the really expensive brand name ones!

Very easy to set up and install. Seems sturdy and well designer. There is ample space between the tail gate and truck⦠maybe too much? I dunno maybe thereâs a reason for that but not a deal breaker. Both my e-bike are 70/75lbs. My wifeâs âstep throughâ will require an additional $50 dollar âbar adapterâ from swagman to clamp her bike down snug. Overall if this unit holds up I think this is a great âvalue buyâ imo compared to others out there without any noticeable compromises on material or design.Looking forward to testing this soon,Cheers!
